Welkom, Luna! Sounds like you're just mad enough to manage yourself in this weirdliness Big Grin
(11-13-2012, 09:44 AM)Luna C. Moon Wrote: [ -> ]Hello fellow squiggle-tailed new friends.

I am Luna, a Mokummer, that is to say a resident and local of Amsterdam in the Netherlands.

Mokum is the name given to Amsterdam by the early Jewish community and it is Yiddish for 'The Place' - as in 'the place to be'.

I hasten to add, I do not align myself with any organised religion, but I am proud to be a Mokummer.

This looks like an on-line kind of Mokum and from what I have gleaned so far, there are plenty of funky chaps and chapesses I would like to interract with in a poetical way.

I am English by birth. A mother of two grown sons and two furry cats.

I lookforward to 'meeting' you all. Big Grin

Hullo, Luna! I hope you enjoy the site.

My son lives in Friesland, (coincidentally in a road called Mokumstraat, I think, though I would need to check) and was so enthusiastic for Holland that he has now acquired Dutch nationality-- though for the life of me I cannot see what advantage he gains, as he was already entitled to all the benefits, as an EU national (UK). Crikey, how far from poetry is discussion of nationality...!!!!Wink

Aaaaah Leanne - I just arrived.

Thus far I am on best behaviour and recently super sober.

I am fascinated by your excercises, but haven't produced anything I want crits for yet.

Cool

Well, anything can be converted into poetry.

Bloody Friesland? He must be in love with a local or have a good job. They don't even speak proper Dutch there, although this language is something of an acquired taste for the English palate.

I love the people here, they shoot from the hip and treat you with respect if you fall on the floor. I've thought about changing nationality, but 'till now I have retained my British one. I speak the lingo and guess what - English accents are sexy to cloggies! How mad is that?

Sorry to waffle so unpoetically on. Nice to meet you. Smile

So -English accents are sexy there! That explains it! He has been with a partner for over ten years, she is Friesian. It is v rural. He is proud of being able to speak Dutch, but seems to find Fries harder, and is proportionately prouder of his knowledge. Strange really, since she is local.

Nice, sensible country, with v civilised people. Smile
