Hi, im Matti, always been a fan of words, as they express myself when I cannot do it in speech.

Hi! I've never written (or read...oops) poetry before, but I'm an avid short story writer and would like to expand my horizons. So....here I am!

hey guy's. a few things about me:
English is technically my 4th or 5th language, depending on how you count, though it is now my only, after starting to learn two others.
I primarily write for self therapy, its hard to explain, but words quiet my mind.
I consider myself very poorly read, compared to how much reading i wish i had time to do.
As someone of 'managed' mental state i fight for a balance between stability, lucidity and creativity.
Happy to answer just about any question put before me, in fact i find it near Pavlovian.

Pavlov is all very well, but I wouldn't want to lick him.  Here, have a welcome pavlova instead.

What milo said, but bear in mind that although one-liners in the "for fun" forum will most likely be approved, they don't count toward your three critique entry fee.

But it is a BIG ask for enthusiastic  budding newby poets to critique on people , when you know nothing ABOUT critiquing.
It is like wanting to learn how to drive, but before you can you must tell the teacher how bad he is doing , when you know nothing about good or bad yet, and worry if you do , he will fail you so you will not be ABLE to drive.
A dog chasing it's tail scenario.
Surely one must get in and swim before they know they are drowning?
And no doubt this will not count either as a critique.

To learn to write poetry you must learn to read poetry. The best way to learn to read poetry is through the analytical reading process of critique.  No one expects you to start out great at it anymore than they expect you to be a great writer but the exercise will help. There are a ton of great threads on the site to help. Good luck.

You'll find plenty of critique tips in the important threads of Novice and reading entire threads will also give you an idea of how to critique. Anyone who is interested in learning to read and write carefully can do it. This is a workshop site based on giving at least as much, hopefully more, than you take. If this is not what you're interested in you may have chosen the wrong site. Best of luck to you, whether you choose to stay or go.
