Hello back at you, Franklin'sMan. Smile Critiquing and posting poems was in fact the best way to introduce yourself. IME the site works best not for movers and shakers but for people who want to improve their own work and help others do the same, so we may be just the site for you. Big Grin

Dig in, have fun, welcome to the pigpen.

This is the single best reason (and motivator) to write poetry.
Try never to lose this.

It's worked for me in the past; unfortunately, it involved pity.     Still...

I you ever succeed in defining it, tell me... no, wait, don't want to know.
I'm a coward.

Good start; but to become a real poet, you need to make it a 24 hour thing (no, not sleep, it's the other one).

Around here, people will care (well, ok, maybe not all the time, but at least 1,000,000 times more than facebook).

We even have a thread for it -- you can find it here.

If you stick around, we can fix the "poets" part.

Don't worry about the "mover-and-a-shaker" thing; we're pretty much all losers.

And yes, it IS nice that this place exists... for me, it's better than nice.
Hope it turns out that way for you,

Thanks for the welcome Ella. Critique is hard work -- I'm spending my poetry energy on these April challanges, but would like to offer some thoughts in the critique forums when April is over. We'll see what kinds of things I post for criticism.

Ray, you made me laugh and smile. And when I looked to see what I was wearing, I cried... until I realized that my socks were white. Then I offered a little pray of thanks.

I'll try not to become happy. I enjoy writing poetry too much. Luckily, I'm prone to unrequited love. I'll also do my best to imagine a dramatic life.

Thanks for the welcome.

Hello Pigpen

I googled poetry forum and ended up here. Awesome site! I've been looking through the poetry exercises and see that I know almost nothing.
I'm excited to learn.

I mostly write dirty poems with adult subject matter. I'm looking to try some different styles of poetry.
That's why I'm here.

"Almost nothing"... good, we like to get them young; child soldiers for our army of poetic righteousness!

"Different styles" as in "retro purple punk hair"?   Sure!
Absolute filth? Sling your putrescence at our "The Pig's Arse - Members Only Poetry" thread; burnt pancake cunts are just the beginning.

But really, we stand in absolute need of a bit of in-the-box thinking.
A lusty welcome,
Ray
