All poetry is mental masturbation, don't you know?

We're arrogant tossers as well, but we're generally too drunk to notice...

Sex and poetry have the same impetus: immortality.

You mean the immortality if sex is reproduction, right?

All sex is reproduction, either literally or figuratively. The object is to make yourself memorable.

Maybe I am too young to fully grasp your concepts. I am picking up two different meanings from yours posts.

The first I've already said in my previous post.
But I also feel like you are saying sex is immortal because you if do a fantastic job you won't be forgotten, but I don't think I'm right with that second one.

That's because you haven't had enough practise... which is pretty right for your age Smile Nobody wants to be forgotten.

If you're only picking up two different meanings, you're doing well. Definitive statements are closed and ignorant.

You are right about the practice thing Hysterical

But were either of my assessments at all accurate? Or is this one of those things where there is no "answer"?

You learn quickly Wink

There is no "no" answer. "No" too often means "I don't want to think any more about that" or "that doesn't fit into my world view".

Thank you for that clarification. However too often does not mean always, and I think this is one of those times that "no" doesn't fit what you said it means. I mean, in this situation at least. There are many times when that is very very true, I just do not feel that this is one of them.

I think you know what your statement means, you just don't want to let me take the easy way and have it told to me.

this reminds me of that line in 'the commitments': (while pissing in the toilet) "jazz is musical wanking; and if you want a wank use that thing in your hand not a saxophone." [it may not be verbatim]
