Lost Homies From Nazi Germany

—We should call the band
Wa Wa Wa Wa Wa Wa Wa!
They'll call us The Wa's in The NME.
—They'd also call us The Wa's in The NME
if we called the band The Wa's.
—Anyone can play drums, Dave.

As a musician I want to like this, I don't want to do the research to figure out who it's about though.

Oh ha... no, it's not about any specific band or person. It's just a general observation about bands when they first start out. It's basically an analogy for all amateur artists, amateur poets included. We all smugly put in that great play on words that's going to go down in history as the pun that changed everything—the pun they'll write about. When the sad fact is, no one is ever going to write about your band or your poem. Less people will give a shit about your band's name or the poem you wrote than will attend your funeral.

So I'm guessing NME is New Musical Express a British entertainment magazine so to speak? I like NME like enemy. I know you didn't ask for critique here but the Nazi Germany threw me off. The last lines my favorite, like the drummer made a dumb remark and is replaceable.
