Poetry Reading
#1
Hey all,
I've been asked to take part in a local poetry reading. I've never done anything like this before, so I wonder if anyone has any suggestions?

Thanks,
Richard

Suggestions on what?

What to wear?
Might I suggest a beret? Perhaps a turtleneck as well?

When to show up?
Fashionably late.

What to drink?
If the are serving, select a California red and frequently compare it unfavorably to other wines you’ve tried in Paris. If they are not serving, Evan Williams bottled in bond bourbon(the white label) in a flask.

When to clap?
Politely and often.

Ha, milo, even I'm not that old.

Richard, I've never done one but I would expect the biggest hurdle would be nerves. Maybe video yourself a few times reading so that you can relax into the poem, and maybe read to friends. Good luck with it, the first time is probably the hardest.

speak clearly and drink a lot. speak with emphasis depending on the mood of the poem.

I can't agree more with the drinking bit. without it, there's no poetry, only scientologically approved enemas
