So yeah, another new guy.  I'm all about reading what others have to offer. It inspires me to write.  I'm not one to actually "critique".  I hope that is okay.  Perhaps I will be categorized as simply a cheerleader.  But trust me, y'all don't want to see me in a skirt (Puny legs syndrome).  And yeah, I'm a guy, so there's that.
Looking forward to reading some awesome stuff in here!

Hi, bo, welcome to the site. You can certainly just read and use the discussion and practice threads where critiques are not necessary but take a look at the important threads of Basic and maybe you'll come to see what a valuable tool learning to critique is. I never critiqued a poem before stumbling in here but as I learned to analyze why I liked what I did and why a poem sometimes lost me I found my own writing reached for a higher goal. It's also fun to give other members a hand when they're looking to polish their poems. Up to you whether or not you want to use the site to its fullest extent.

Past time? FF? Hmm. Your welcome makes FF-all sense.

		Hi everyone,
My name is Sarah, I’m posting from Melbourne, Australia.

I’m excited to be here! I’ve loved poetry (reading and writing) since I was 15. I’m finding the concept of critiquing others quite daunting to be honest, but I’m here to learn. I decided this year I would get serious about exploring poetry instead of scribbling away to myself. So here I am!

		Hi Sarah,
Welcome to the site! Critique can always be a bit daunting at first, but it gets easier and a side benefit is it will not only help the other person, but the intensive reflection will help your own writing.

 Best, Todd

		Hey all!
I know I’ve sort of been lurking for a few days already and some of you have been kind enough already to read a few of my poems posted and give me some priceless feedback. But I thought I’d say hello here also, seeing as their is a dedicated thread to do so. I’ve been writing on an off for like fifteen years now, I took it very seriously about 10 years ago and was part of the mod team at poem.org then I went to uni and gave it all up. I ended up managing pubs for about 6 years, I gave up uni for what I thought would be a career and then about 6 months ago I got pretty sick and had to pack that in as well. My therapist suggested I start writing again and now here I am, at it again. And I will tell you it’s like bumping into your first love and finding they’ve just got better with age and you can’t help it and have to pursue them again.

 Anyway hello all

 Johnny

Sometimes it's a bit like bumping into your first love because they've been hunting you to tell you about the syphilis, but still...
It's good to have you here, Johnny. Anyone who's prepared to interact, edit, improve, help others improve, and still cop a bit of shite about their hair (oh wait, I hadn't got to that yet... never mind...)

I like to think of it as a cross between John Cooper Clarke and Thomas Shelby. It has a mind of its own and I’ve been told it’s quite a handful. When I was a pub manager I don’t think a Friday or Saturday night went by when piss’eds sorry my wonderful patrons didn’t comment on it. Even bad press means you’re talking about it

Hi, Hamilton. I had a 30 year break in writing and then it was like turning a tap on. It's been interesting coming at it from a more focused view than I had the first time around. I hope you enjoy the site.

Hey Johnny, welcome to the site! I'm glad someone else made the syphilis analogy (so that I don't have to). I hope you enjoy it here.
 Best, Todd

Howdy! I have been involved in a poetry writing workshop that is primarily centered on creation, and I was very interested in honing my ability to revise. I am eager to learn and grow here.
I've had a couple of poems published but I want to improve, and perhaps some kind of mid-life realization that time alone is not making me any better spurred me to get to work. I am a stay at home mother, a student (just 12 more hours until I get my bachelor's degree!), and a dabbler in art forms. Before I had children, I worked as an oboist in the U.S. Army.

I love working with forms, because it helps me focus!     Thanks for reading this far!

Hi and welcome to the site. Dig in, one of the great things here is that we're available when you can fit us into what must be a busy schedule. Leanne has done a great job defining various forms in the Practice forum, enjoy.
