hi bena, we're fine with nips specially if it's art nips Big Grin
here's how to show the pics:
Quote:right click on the image, then chose view image info (it has to end in .jpg or .ping) the copy the url.

and post it using İmage quotes like i did with your pic.

This one I'm extremely proud of, it was back when I could play with all mediums.  the bottom is watercolor that fades halfway into acrylic (as it goes it gets thicker, brighter) and the last layer on top was thickened oils applied with a spatula.  When it was finished I took a pic and decided it needed something a bit more....so I added a white blur graphically.  You have a good eye!  If you look closely at bottom left there is one...I think people can look at this onee either two ways....the woman is fading slowly.....or the woman is building up.  I like ambiguity and I adore playing with mixed mediums.

Is that blur-out some computer enhancement? If not, it is an awesome painting effect Melanie!/Chris

Geez, thanks all, wasn't expecting this kind of reception. I don't have many more since I only started doing them/painting at all less than a year ago, but if anyone can tell me an easy way to put them online/in a URL so that I can post them here I do have a few more.

Chris, mandala painting is a sort of exploration of the psyche, from what I understand, and is meant to be healing and revealing at once. All I know is it is calming and fun. I did my first one in a workshop with two Swedes who travel the world giving mandala-painting workshop weekends. It was pretty cool. (Btw have no clue where you got steampunk from but hey, I'll take it.)

And Shem yes they're both quite small. Don't remember exact dimensions but something like a foot x 8 inches maybe. Around there.

Mel I meant to comment on yours, it's lovely. The colors and composition are great--the top left almost looks like torn construction paper. Really cool.

Ha ha... Well, as I said the second one looks like an Aztec wheel to me. Isn't it strange that they had a calendar wheel and yet no carts on wheels? Anyway, the other looks like two concentric cogs or gears (with the little teeth). It almost is like part of a clockworks. Even that cross beam is rivited in this artists eye. Where your azure bleeds into the cerulean is suggestive of smoke or oil spray as those gears turn. The mechanized image took me to steampunk! I like it...

Apparently, Carl Jung drew these to re-balance his head after periods of enlightenment and intellectual growth. Enjoy!

I saw all of the macro composition as her hair in a kind of Bride of Frankenstein style! Love it. Hey, bena ask rayheinrich how to post images (jpegs) the way that you want them. He's our local expert!

Finally got some photos of more of my mandalas onto the web. First one was for hubby's bday (because a painting you can do in a day is always the best gift) but the others were just cuz.

Also I'm sure this thread could expand a lot. I'd love to see more people on here... like ChristopherSea where are your watercolors??? Putting them as your avatar is just a tease.

Love them. Maybe the middle one makes for the best art, but that heart is my fave.
Wonderful texturing.

And yes, Chris where are your watercolors???

Aww ya'll are making me blush. Shem I like the last one a lot too, it looks more interesting in real life. I might still play around with it though, haven't quite decided.

Chris: if you have your pic on the internet somewhere and in URL form, just put this around the URL: [/img] changing the dimensions as needed of course. Hope that helps. =]

I think it looks great as it is. I have this really big space on my bedroom wall and I keep imagining this painting filling that space Smile However, it looks quite small. Have you ever thought about painting a really big one?

Anyhow, this is a really nice interview with matthew collings (who's early work reminded me of your paintings... or the other way roundSmile), plus he is probably the best art critic on the planet:

I love your work bena. Do photos count as art? I can't post the image though. Something about Flickr. https://www.flickr.com/photos/12826947@N05/7312904850/
