Fauxku Choo Choo (the play's the thing)
Kilter's socks are embroidered with fur
and his pants are so soft they could purr,
he knows the best wine
and his nose sniffles thyme,
his cologne is organic couture.

Ten feet of snow had covered the walks
Queen startled awake at chime 3 of the clocks
her feet were so frozen
it made her quite brazen
She badgered Old Kilter to hand over his socks

Old Kilter was pleased he could comfort the Queen,
Could assume such a chivalrous mien.
But he needed no grit,
Cause he knew how to knit;
Had more socks than had ever been seen.

Old Kilter, he got him an itch:
Get a ship, feel the roll, and the pitch.
And you ask just where to?
Well, a new world would do;
And of course, there'd be nary a hitch.

The Queen came to bid him adoux;
All the people sent well-wishes too.
But Old Kilter soon found,
He was missing firm ground;
Now his 'Old' was an 'Off' to the Loo.

The captain, amused, but quite kind;
Offered Kilter an herb thought benign.
Yes, it cured his despair,
But there was a slight snare;
Now he's talking to God and confined.

Old Kilter risen to God's altitude
found some born again fortitude;
remembered his eight cats,
how divinely they just sat
staring with such laissez-faire attitude.

Cats embrace laissez-faire, on the fly;
Thought Old K, while suppressing a sigh;
There's no pity, just grin
There's no holding them in,
Laissé faire la nature in your eye.

"I presume you are Kilter", said God,
There was silence (Old Kilter was awed).
"I am sending you back,
Gonna cut you some slack;
You're a fool, but you're not deeply flawed."

Mom's mind is still sharp
though her body is broken glass.
Dad is demented
and still runs in the evenings.
