Emoticons, Next. Embrace them.

Real writers don't use emoticons, they use English (or Klingon or whatever fit is upon them).
And of greater importance: emoticons poison irony, as ambiguity is its essential ingredient.
So I would classify my remark as a both a declarative statement and an intentional cliché.
