Cold War

Thanks for reading my poem! =)

Cold War

The air heavy,
Walls erected,
We can’t see.
Not anymore.
Dead, soulless,
Barely alive
in this freezing
Silence.

Go on,
Say something.
Go on,
knock down the wall.
Go on,
Break the damn ice!

Lips parted,
Then closed.
Words struggling,
Yet none escapes.
I can’t,
Not anymore.

Leave the stillness,
Let it suffocate.
Till there’s no pain.
Not anymore.

The last time.
The final war.
Ashes to ashes,
Dust to dust.

Freezing silence,
So cold, it burns.

Leaving scars
That sear forever.
Back!

Wow, even with such short stanzas, I have a great image in my head. Having been to several Cold War museums and other exhbits about life for people in the Soviet-era, I feel that this poem really embodies the hopelessness and pain experienced by many who had to endure awful circumstances. All the words are artfully chosen. I like it a lot.

Wow, it's a really good poem! Smile I love the poems that have short lines like this, it leaves you wanting more to me.

The one thing that I would change, was in the first stanza. If I had wrote this, I would have kept the word silence on the line above, but that may just be me. It's such a minor thing though. Smile
