most of us are omnivores, we eat meat and vegetables.
some are vegans or veggie eaters only. would it make a difference if we all changed our eating habits? the fish stocks are dying out and an argument says domestic farm animals are adding more greenhouse gas to the atmosphere than cars!
personally i'm an omnivore verging on carnivore. i eat few veggies.
my opinion is cut down on depleting the ocean species as much as possible. give incentives to start farming the oceans a lot more and stop producing large livestock. on the land they graze, grow food crops. chicken and fowl don't seem to put much greenhouse gasses out there, nor do rabbets or ostrich (though i'm not sure) so concentrate on making them the staple protein beside farmed fishstock.
views please.
I'm sure we can do without domestic cattle. It's a waste of land that could be used to grow crops to feed more people than the beef would feed, and the slaughter methods are barbaric. Farming the oceans is an excellent idea, as is aquaculture. Alga can be grown cheaply and used to produce combustible fuel. Fish farms are currently a source of high-quality protein in the US, and farm-raised catfish are delectable.

i had a couple of cows for a while, just for the milk and dung, they eat about 10 times the area of grass etc.than you can cover in their dung,i don't know what the ratio is of protein and what you have to feed them, but it'll be a huge defecit

I've seen some horrible slaughter documentaries,
but somehow beef seems to be the worst in the food industry.
The fur trade in China is a nightmare. PETA film.

i do like meat. and have to be honest and say i don't think about the slaughtering of the animals when i eat it. i have been inside a slaughter house back in the day and it was gruesome. i should be more thoughtful when it comes to choosing what i eat but i'm selfish
sj. you're document agreed with me that chickens use less resources to feed and put meat on the table. but again, we come to altezons brutality. unlike beef the birds can be slaughtered a lot more cleanly, though i doubt that really happens. for me it's the living conditions. in the main they're battery farmed and force fed antibiotics and other shit.
i'm sure if ostrich farming could take over from beef we'd stil be able to get the meat protien many of us want.

yes,me becoming a vegetarian had a lot to do with the living conditions of the animals.I had a cleaning job once, they sent me to a stable complex with little boxes in it with little calves, they couldn't move,so they wouldn't develop muscle,in the dark,so the meat would stay white, horrendous.schnitzel industry

yeah i've seen the calf pens on a few farms. where they clamp them in so they can't move.
there was a lot of protests over the transportation of calves in the uk back in 2000. some of the conditions aren't pretty.
It's more difficult to eat healthy being a vegetarian, isn't it? Meat contains all the essential amino acids necessary to construct
human protein, but vegetables always lack one or another so that they have to be combined intelligently to complement each other.

i never pay any attention what's in the food i eat,i think a good protein source is rice and beans, which i eat quite a lot,at the moment i eat lots of apples since we just harvested our crop, then we make bread with diff.kinds of grains and i drink a lot of milk, mixed with coffee that is

Milk=animal protein -- that covers you. Corn goes well with rice & beans. Apples are great. No crucifers?

I didn't realize any of those were crucifers. Cabbage is a great buy for the money.
Broccoli fllorets cooked in rice or raw in salads. Nuked cauliflower bits in soup taste like nut.

brassica's[cabbage,couliflower,broccoli] are crucifers,no?

Apparently so. I had to look up 'brassica'.
I'm just getting into Valencia oranges --
the fresh ones have kind of a spicy oily juice
that makes Navel seem bland by comparison.

by the way, over here they're really hard to grow without poison ,they get attacked by caterpillars and aphids so i gave up on them[growing them i mean]

thing with the milk protien is that it needs to come from one of the grazing animals that use up all that energy and space to create it on a large scale. fish farms could produce protein. as could chicken, duck and ostrich,

you could replace cows with goats which have a much better milk food ratio
