Hey guys! Complete newbie here.
I've been experimenting with poetry for a while now, but being pretty shy, I never dared showing any of my work to others. I finally managed to defeat that shyness. I really whish to grow as a poet.
I'm sorry if my English sounds awkward by the by, it is not my first language.

Romania, from your profile. Your English sounds pretty decent. Also, Josef Conrad's first language was Polish, so shouldn't be an issue!

It's been roughly a decade since I last workshopped online with any regularity. But I'll try to remember to consume my poetry prunes, and we'll see how things come out.
I'm a mom of boys in South Carolina. That tends to be my default theme as well.

And hello, my name is Ray and I'm a pigoholic.
I've been looking forward to rejoining the Pen and assisting it in its great
effort of endeavoring to persevere in proceeding and receding things apace.
And now, since my servitude to the gods of art is sort-of-finished or at least
procrastinated to the point of nonexistence, I need look forward no longer.
Happy day! (At least for me.)

I like to believe that if God can make a whole damn universe in 6 days, I should really be able to write a half decent poem in that time!

I like to believe that if God can make a whole damn universe in 6 days, I should really be able to write a half decent poem in that time! The most significant part of the above sentence is "like to believe".
We (I just love to speak collectively) would all like to believe we could
write a half-decent poem. The reality is mixed. So you, lowly newbie,
will likewise be regarded with suspicion.
We all, by the way, possess an unquestioning belief that we are more
than just "alright". But whatever judgement you arrive at, we do,
sincerely, hope that you stick around.

Ciaossu! Lively is relative. But there's quite a bit of activity here and most of us are undead.
Welcome,

Hey all, I was told by the magnificent google to post my work here for decent critique. Im open to some advice on how to improve. My goal isn't to become a writer but rather take pride in writing and it helps to soothe the soul

Hi Mr. Deadpool! (love the name ) Welcome, and happy to have you. Soul soothing is one of the best reasons to write IMO. Looking forward to your words.

Still, if you're looking for excellent critiques, this is the right place.
The other thing you learn here is how to do critiques. It's a very important skill,
as learning it teaches you how to edit (and evaluate) your own work.
So welcome, may the force be at your side.

Hello pig pen word. Super happy to have found a site like this. So far ( 3 days) everyone has seemed super supportive of each other and very sarcastic at times ( also a plus). I have been writing forever, so I thought it might be time to start writing well. The only people who ever hear my poems atm are family and they love my poems no matter how illiterate they may be. I cant wait to grow as a poet and help others in the process!

Just about where I was when I came here, it's been a grand place to learn.

Welcome to the pen, hope you have as much fun here as I do. Oh, and check out the poetry practice threads, they're a challenge but hold lasting value.
