< another god-damned easter poem >
most of you was naked
i
on the other hand
was getting close
to the end of the conveyer belt
dumping us off into the abyss
or
into all the chocolate we'd ever want
but
there was no way to find out
which
it was
it seems that way with us
all of us who vowed
to always sleep naked under the same sheet
now you can walk up on the proverbial street
and ask either of us this question
and get a reply like you'd expect
from nazis at nuremburg
or commies before HUAC
or some poor queer bastard
needing a break from a judge of 85 who knows
this pervert should be damned
i can't help any of this
i tell myself i got to take a shower
and wash all this off for an hour or two
wash the sins like the girl called christ
(she was in drag)
that died
or didn't
a few days from now
i have no idea what to make of all that
these people come to my door
and tell me one thing
and after 3am on TV
some other people tell me ten other things
but all of them
want me to send my money
where can i find christ
so i can give it directly to him?
will it burn my hands when i do this?
will i perish in fire for some vile perversion
that i forgot about?
or will i be forgiven?
i really need to be forgiven
like everyone i know needs to be forgiven
for watching the starving people on TV
for truely feeling compassion
for about 15 seconds
till the next commercial tells me
to buy corn chips
and I WILL
oh god i promise I WILL
buy them
and eat each one savoring it
as it changes to YOU my CHRIST
changes on this EASTER of remembrance
changes to the flesh of the flesh i am eating
and grows large in me
i sometimes think of the child i am to bear
of my mother telling me
i could never do this because i was a boy
but i never could believe her
and i refuse to this day
i will become large with my savior
i will give birth to some salvation
and the truth that has always escaped me
shall be evident to this child
which i will press from me
in pain and victory
like the rock
upon which all that follows will be built

truly
right, that's off my chest, now to the chocolate...
love:
where can i find christ
so i can give it directly to him?
be kind, he's had a rough time... got nailed and was in such a hole... but boy, can he do rock n roll
I would rather be sand than rock. I don't want anyone building on me, and I like to travel. Plus, children are the ones who shape me.
But above all, please let there be chocolate.
It could be worse

i don't get a chance to do the easter egg thing for the grandkids. they get loads of the things. but what they don't get is the christ thing that's supposed to come with them, like her parents my daughter thinks if the want something, they'll find it. chocolates much more fun when it hasn't been nailed to a crucifix

(only white and dark left, we needed the milk for the lamb)
"And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out
of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron,
and said unto him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us;
for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land
of Egypt, we know not what is become of him.
And Aaron said unto them, give me your chocolate, and the chocolate of
your wives, and of your sons, and of your daughters, and bring it unto me.
And the people gave him their chocolate, and the chocolate of their sons,
and brought it unto him.*
And he took it, and melted it, and fashioned a chocolate bunny. And he
said: This be thy god, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt."
- Exodus 32:1-4
*The wives and daughters, of course, had already eaten theirs.

This is the longest piece I've seen of yours Ray. Enjoyed it very much. (was I supposed to bite the ears off first?)
Respect your passion,
Paul

well, at least it's not another god damned easter poem.
Actually, it was before my time, much enjoyed it, especially the unusual pregnancy.
And the chocolate.

Respect your passion,
Paul While your interpretation of Exodus 29:20 (see below) might vary from mine;
my suggestion would be to leave the ears alone until you've slaughtered a ram.
"You shall slaughter the ram, and take some of its blood and put it on the lobe of Aaron's
right ear and on the lobes of his sons' right ears and on the thumbs of their right hands and
on the big toes of their right feet, and sprinkle the rest of the blood around on the altar.

And the chocolate. It was a bit before my time as well... 2000 years!
You enjoy unusual pregnancies? *
* Not that there's much you can do about it now, but it just may be that your drugs have gotten on top of you.

"like the rock upon which all that follows will be built" So the rock was peter, so are you saying everything that will be built, will be built upon your peter?
Man, thank god this is in missile anus, I'd hate to have to critique this chocolate cow pie of a poem. As John the Beloved said, after being beloved, "We find in sense, insanity: in confusion we find truth, for truth can only be comprehended by the unordered mind, having left rationality on the shore awaiting our return." I guess he was a little loopy.
These people are always praying to Jesus to do something for them, when in reality we should be praying for him, after all he literally went through Hell and back and all we can ask is if he got us a souvenir. Well, at least he was well hung.

When you said: "it was confusing and jumped from one abstract thought
to another", you pretty much summed it up. It's intended to do just that.
The tag-line for my poems is: "Poetry for people who make it up as they go."
In this poem (as in many of my poems) it's up to the reader to create their own poem.
This does not mean I've thrown together a bunch of random garbage;
I spend a LOT of time constructing these poems, there are cohesive
structures contained within them.
But you gotta like riddles, gotta like to play this game; if not, it's just shit.
Notice I'm not saying it SEEMS like shit, I'm saying it IS shit. Truth in advertising.
Chocolate, on the other hand, is just plain sublime; no riddles involved, none necessary.

John Wayne's Greatest Role[/url]
dale My peter gets as hard as a rock while listening to any word ever uttered by
Jean Arthur (this is called a 'fetish'). It does NOT, however, like anything built
upon it (well, ok, maybe Jean Arthur's vulva [damn, there goes my fetish again]).
I'm glad for both of us you don't have to critique this poem; it would be like critiquing a
phone book, only less rewarding. (Though, I must admit, I'd be flatteningly flattered by
every single tiny little minusculian minatorily minacious word you built upon it.)
John Wayne's greatest role was in John Ford's "The Searchers".

Ray rote: "John Wayne's greatest role was in John Ford's "The Searchers"."
Sarcasm, Ray, Sarcasm. John Wayne played the centurion at the crucifixion of Jesus--three days before Easter--...You know Easter? Talk about the turtle calling the swan green.

dale You don't know Easter like I know Easter (and versa vice to a much more limited extent).
The true miracle of Easter, by the way, is the rabbit egg.
