Happy New Year

It's no new year,
for time is old, and us eternal
in sepia photographs.

New school, new jobs, new people.
Break up, cheer up, growing up.
Still, it's no new year.

Thoughts frozen, dislocated, we see
changes unable to penetrate past reddish-brown monochrome.
It's all aesthetics, like smiles plastered and tears plastic.

The price of immortality is apathy,
and ignorance of our foreverness.
Expire, and then what's next?
Another sepia photograph, I reckon,
but it still won't be a new year.

Rainy Day

Sulky faces in the bed,
needing to be dragged out,
nothing special today.

Clouds need plumbing,
leaking, water's everywhere.
All the streets are drowned,
the rickshaw is submerged,
Rain-coats are doing a poor-job.

At last the gate is here,
the dreaded demon's mouth,
never let's out, until
the last bell rings.

Wait! what's the sign
on the ghoulish door?
It says "Rainy Day".
Hurray! Hurray!
Splash, splash, splash,
in the water they dash,
and run the way back home,
spilling the puddles,
to their heart's content.

This is sort of unplanned holiday which is granted on occasions of heavy rain and when commutation is jeopardized. I happened to get this once in school, it was exhilarating Smile
