Ever Higher
#1
May the land touch the sky,
May the land touch the sky,

May the land touch the sky and the sky touch god.
Maybe then we can escape the infectious gas, the condemned, the wicked.

Wrapped with bible pages; I am a cocoon.
Though the world and I, we are alike.
We are cocoons; Changing form and shape.
Always changing, changing, changing hearts, soul, and mind.

In this cocoon I wish for a while to myself,
Away from the weight of sorrows,
Everlasting sin; Cruel vendettas.
Awaiting the ultraviolet,
Dry my wings, Fly ever higher.

Break through the darkness, bask in the light.
Lifted by a higher power, or maybe ascend with my mind.
I want to live, laugh, and love,
While transcending to the clouds and stars above.

Today in this cocoon I stay,
But I will pray, pray, pray,
May the land touch the sky,
May the land touch the sky,

So that soon I can fly,
Fly to the clouds and stars up high.
From my cocoon I will soar ever higher, ever higher.

i'm into religious poetry but i'll leave some feedback nonetheless.

i see the leaving of the cocoon as entering the heaven of choice.
it has the feel of being a song more than it does of being a poem;
possibly gospel. the trouble with me when it comes to preaching
through poetry, is the fact that it has no effect on me. so in that
sense it feels a little week. it doesn't change my perception or emotion as to what i've just read.

thanks for the read.
