A fly crawled across my ceiling today,
My white-painted Cartesian plain,
Looked down and winked multifaceted eye –
I felt reality drain.
I was seduced by the absence of reason,
Cogito, ergo… then some
Idiot insect with graphs on its feet
Drowned happily in my rum.
There goes Rene, I thought with a smirk,
So much for coursing the plot;
If there’s a moral (I’m not sure there is) –
Here’s what ol’ Descartes forgot:
Never let gravity screw you around,
Careful of at whom you wink,
Don’t walk in straight lines, but most of all don’t
Mess with a madwoman’s drink.

Good one Leanne, a rum tale indeed very appropriate for QLD. Cheers

Brilliant. Should be "...a multifaceted eye" of course.
I'm moved to post my own poem on the perils of drink.
Before criticising a person, try walking a mile in their shoes. Then when you do criticise them, you're a mile away.....and you have their shoes.

'Twas more on the perils of mathematical philosophers really
The saddest part is, I live in a state renowned for its rum and can't stand the stuff... it upsets me to not appreciate all forms of alcohol...
As to the "a", one doesn't need articles when drinking, they block the line to the bar.

You should try our home brew -- I use it to clean the shower.

Cogito, ergo, sum...cogito? Well, not that even one has ever accused me of it!
Eliminate the middle man I always say!
So when can we expect Kant and his Cattle, Gore and empirical? For a German he was quite fanciful!
