Old poem of mine posted especially for billy:
< ADD >
Attention Deficit Disorder is a misnomer.
People with ADD have lots of attention,
they just can't control it very well.
I used to think I had ADD,
but my psychiatrist told me that
hypomanic episodes of manic-depression
are often confused with ADD.
But my friend has ADD.
He also has a large stainless-steel barbecue.
He was cruising the web one day and found this site:
The guy at this site used liquid oxygen to quickly ignite his charcoal rickets.
My friend has always had a problem with his.
My friend is a physicist.
He brought some home last weekend.
Did you know that many cowboys were, in fact, from other countries
and that the word "barbe-a-que", meaning "cooked from snout to tail",
is French?
Though some say (Brits, I guess) that barbecue is a derivation of the term
barbacoa from the Caribbean island of Hispaniola and that it refers not to
the meat itself but to a cooking framework of sticks set on posts.
Tom Cruise has a large stainless-steel barbecue.
He also has ADD.
But thanks to Scientology and e-meters and what-not,
he doesn't need medications.
(My psychiatrist does not believe in Scientology.)
I was once involved with Scientology
but my psychiatrist changed my medication
and I gave it up.
I guess they are right.
My burns are healing.

We just call it a barbie, and don't care where the word came from as long as the steak is rare and the snags (sausages) are cremated.
I think it's fairly clear from your exposé, and from anecdotal evidence, that psychiatrists cause disorders.
It could be worse

I think you got to the point very well
PS. If you can, try your hand at giving some of the others a bit of feedback. If you already have, thanks, can you do some more?

Obviously this was a "Barbi-U"
"Look at them clams!"
Either a line from the musical Carrousel
or part of an overheard conversation at a seniors nude beach!

The goal is not to obfuscate that which is clear, but make clear that which isn't.

Yes on the ADD/ADHD question. While the figures are all over the place, it goes something like: 3 to 5 % of kids have it and about 40% of them will recover by age 25.
No. My friend was actually the one that got burned (poetic license and
all). I did burn myself while making gunpowder for pipe bombs. (We used
to throw them down this old well and make geysers that shot 50-100
feet in the air).
