a better pill???

do you think it will work, if not, will they eventually come up with something that does (that won't cost an arm or a leg hehe)

Quote:Shedding those Christmas pounds is never easy. Now one German doctor claims he could have the answer with a new weight loss pill.

Makers claim one dose of Nuratrim can burn 380 calories-a-day - 15 times more than normal.

Advanced orders have reportedly topped 50,000 in the UK.

Mariah Carey, Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Aniston are reported have used the tablet, which contains extracts of liquorice and green coffee to speed up digestion.

German creator Dr Alfred Hasslebacher said: 'It has been devised to assist all men and women looking to lose excess weight and control their appetite.

'This optimum formula has been clinically proven to increase energy levels, suppress appetite, and burn fat.'

Nuratrim costs £34.95 for 30 pills and is designed to be taken daily with breakfast.

It contains glucomannan derived from the konjac root, licourice extract, green tea extract and chilli extract.

Nuropharm Limited, which developed Nuratrim, claim it can burn as many calories as a 40 minute run. However, requests for the clinical evidence from the company has yet to be returned.

Further information about Dr Alfred Hasslebacher's background has also proved elusive.

The only "better pill" is to get up off your arse and walk. All the "celebrities" who have tried it also have personal trainers and a shitload of cash for plastic surgery.

I was truly impressed by the way that in para 4 it contains liquoice extract, and green coffee, whereas in para 8, it has liquorice extract, idosyncratically spelt, and green tea. Or cocoa, or Ovaltine. Or Horlicks. I am sure the Mail is not to blame, and is merely following its standard practice, copying and pasting the pr stuff.

That's fairly symptomatic of today's lazy journalists, printing advertorials to make up for their inability to recognise actual news -- and skipping the step of proofreading because it might cut into their profits.

Journalist never proof, that's the job of the proofreader. Oh, yea, they fired him, didn't they?

Amphetamines work much better for losing weight and boosting energy.

Of course when I clicked on this thread I thought it said a bitter pill.

"Advanced orders have reportedly topped 50,000 in the UK."

Can anyone tell me exactly that line means?

Not "advance orders" but "advanced orders"

and who is reporting this?

Just wondering Smile

Here's a report copied verbatim from my local newspaper's website:

"HIGH PLAINS MALLARD MANAGEMENT UNIT: Outfitters reported fair to good hunts
for ducks on ponds and feed lots. Ducks with freezing temperatures have
congregated on warmer feed lot ponds. Over wheat and plow ground goose hunting
has been good. Snow the past few weeks has encouraged Canadas to feed and
lose some of their late-season wariness. Larger Canadas have shown recently
with freezing temperatures to the north. Snow geese have cooperated at times,
mostly with stiff winds and a low ceiling. Some runoff from snow has filled
ponds, but wet ponds remain a premium. Prospects are fair to good."

a brightly colored fungus that grows in bark inclusions

Why are they hunting feed lots.
What's a duck's freezing temperature?
What is "over wheat"?
I thought Canadas was a dry riverbed.
What's a recently?
If I had stiff winds, I'd cooperate too.
So ponds that have snow runoff in them are not wet ponds?

What country do you live in?

You're loving the craic, aren't you Ray?

I'm very proud. We now have Americans who confidently use both craic and wanker. Soon you'll be taking the piss properly and all.

it was in most of our dailies (uk) it did say they tested 34 people. tested them for what is anyones guess.
i think cocaine as part of a calorie controled diet is much better than mother's little helper, though it is more expensive.

there has to come a time when a drug that really does help you lose weight comes along.
it will probably be marketed by kf and macdonalds joinly with the supersize meals

And just think about the product recalls.

I bet the previous intelligent life forms (before we drove them to extinction)
really regretted having invented us. (Maybe we were intended to help them
loose weight?)

I'm still a little suspicious of new drugs and procedures. Product developers and people at the FDA have a track record of not being as smart as they think they are. They'll OK something and years later have to pull it out of the market, but not before fucking up an entire generation of people. Science is way more advanced now than it was decades before, granted, but I think the basic problem is the same: by our current level of understanding something is OK, only to discover later that it isn't. Lots of diet concoctions and plastic surgery going on nowadays that's supposedly "perfectly safe", but we won't really know til we see the aftermath.
PS. If you can, try your hand at giving some of the others a bit of feedback. If you already have, thanks, can you do some more?
