Our funny jackets zip in back,
we’re monitored each waking hour.
Odd-days: Cup ’o’ Noodle lunch;
come high-noon we watch cartoons,
on even-days we take a shower.

If we behave, we play our games,
otherwise take naps instead.
They limited our style of play,
enforced a ban on Kick the Can--
our asses got too sore and red.

Shock-treatment days are an event,
though blissfully we’re unaware;
they tell us it’s the current trend.
As sparks subside, and brains are fried--
we do love how it curls our hair.

Late night visit by the nurse
who feels us up to make us smile
while feeding us our bitter pills.
She comes back later ‘cause they paid her,
use needles if we get hostile.

Green Jello Sundays for desert;
then chant to Elvis, on our knees;
believing he’ll return again
to do his song. We'll sing along
then knock him down and take the keys.
