Ardour
#1
I am tired of thought, and ardour, and joy,
which only leads to ardour after all. How can a boy
of modest means and frail psychic health
hope to feel a summer's wealth
in his heart and in his mind?
How can a simple rind
of truth render the journey complete,
when 'I'll wake at the call of day'
is more than he can bear to say?

Jack, why on earth did you post this in "fun" and let it be buried under frivolities? As much as I've enjoyed reading cheerful silliness and such, this was a delight to stumble upon in the depths.

This representation of depression is profound and rather wonderful.
It could be worse

Maybe he had already posted a poem that day Tongue

The crude rhyme scheme made me feel that it was more suited to less serious critique sections. Thank you for your kind feedback, LeanneSmile
