Not all poets write good verse.
The egotist is shite--
Poetasters are accursed;

fair poetry needs no hearse.
Most angst reflects as trite;
not all poets write good verse.

Friendly pats cannot coerce,
a corpse to better write;
Poetasters are accursed.

Critics should never wet nurse
the cutter in their plight.
Not all poets write good verse,

To falsely feed is adverse,
Show them with second sight.
Poetasters are accursed;

better to not be perverse,
don’t let them think they're bright.
Not all poets write good verse,
Poetasters are accursed.

Ahem... I think you mean "remember" Hysterical

most angst reflects as trite; (capital m)
not all poets write good verse.

a corpse to better write;
Poetasters are accursed.

Critics should never wet nurse (try "never should wet nurse" to keep the meter)
the cutter in their plight.

Poetasters are accursed;

better not to be perverse (comma at the end?)
don’t let them think there bright. (they're)
Not all poets write good verse,
Poetasters are accursed.

It took me a bit to get into the alternating rhythms but it does actually work well for the most part. And naturally I'm not going to disagree with you on the sentiment Smile

i'll see what can be done with the critic line, and edit the grammar and spelling now Wink

Actually, ignore the critic line. I was comparing its meter to some of the other first lines, and the one that's actually out is L1 of the last stanza.

viz:

Fair poetry needs no hearse

scans as:

(fair) POetry/ NEEDS no/ HEARSE

and then there's

CRITics should/ NEver wet/ NURSE

and

(to) FALSEly/ FEED is ad/VERSE

all of these lines are dactylic trimeter.

So I would suggest

BETter to/ NOT be per/VERSE

a tiny little switch of words and you're set.

it works for me though scansion eludes me Sad

Don't feel bad about that, it's really only for the very anal (like me) -- and even then we'll argue about it, because it varies from accent to accent and there's often more than one way to scan a line anyway. But it's sometimes useful for illustration. A bit.
