body modifications

collagen in between the eyebrow to get rid of
frowns but yeah, and the lips.

as far as i'm concerned the kiddy beauty scene is akin to child labour and torture.
some of them must really suffer emotionally as they get older as you say.
should their actually be a law to stop that kind of stuff.

getting the ears pierced for kids in the west is also becoming a bit of a tradition. we did it to our girls.
does the fact it's a tradition make it right, in some parts of the world genital cutting is traditional.

It's my opinion that parental piercings are wrong ... any type of body modification should be solely the choice of the person.
As for genital cutting ... that's just nasty Sad
Here in Canada it is no longer a standard practice and must now be paid for by the faimilies.
We had our son done (a reget I carry), but our grandson is in tact.

i always thought it was the rabbi who did it in the jewish community,

in the uk i don't think it would be done on a child unless it was a
medical necessity (circumcision)

Unfortunately, in Canada it was a standard practice to perform circumcisions and for various reasons, it was believed to be cleaner, it allowed son to look like daddy, and for religious beliefs.
Today less than 25% of Canadian male babies are circumcised with the proceedure now billed to the parents.

Quote: The Canadian Children's Rights Council position is that there is no medical benefit to the routine genital mutilation (circumcision) of any children (defined by U.N. as those under 18 years of age). Further, all Canadian children, both male and female, should be protected by the criminal laws of Canada with regards to this aggravated assault. Currently, the protection provided by the Criminal Code of Canada includes only genital mutilation (circumcision) of female children.
