Papa knew it well.

You cannot tire
a heavy fish
on light line.

You set your drag
just north of zero
and war all day
over inches.

It's not a game
young men would play.

Very nice observation.  Personally, I've found the trick to accomplishing an onerous task (weeding, for example) is to take off my watch; perhaps divesting themselves of all personal communication devices could serve the same purpose with younger men.  I say this having recently beat the threescore-and-ten, though not by much  Wink .  The Flintstone-style shift-change whistle has much to recommend it.

Thanks, Duke. This was about 3 times longer before I took the axe to it. Wasn't sure the metaphor was still recognizable. I thinks bits of this were at least partially inspired by the commentary on "Revenge." Some interesting thoughts on that thread.

Hi Tiger,

As an avid fisherman, I like the literal image as much as the metaphorical.
Very nice. Thanks,

That would be a perfect task set for damned souls in Dante's Inferno.
