And Love Ever Grows
#1
She stirs from her slumber,
a brief smile 'cross her face
a dream of Westley,
of love and of space
and it seems rather pleasant,
the drum in the background,
as the jester beats furiously.
With his noise, he abounds.

Her heart doesn't ponder the corruption
or folly
for she takes her position
and sits near the holly
and then smells the lilacs
grown there in the spring
and her eyes wander 'bout
as some water she brings.

She nourishes the flowers
and comes round the benches
and with her face high
she sighs and she ventures
and merrily strolls 'bout the length of the terrace,
paying the bright little angel no mind
biding her time
'til Westley returns
for he is a champion
amongst men
and she will greet him with a smile
as her best friend appears
and ask what he thought of the letters that she sent
and he will respond with what she knows to be true
a smile, an embrace, and a laugh all the same
as they plant their memories that will soon fully bloom.

Yes there is a strength in the terrace.
There's a strength in the woman
and man
who dance swiftly 'bout to the tune of a pan
and the sound of the drum
that beats in time with their hearts.

When they have finished dancing
they will start
making the poetry that makes the world go 'round,
the poetry in which the only sound
is love,
love,
love.
The drum makes love grow.

I remember a callback to the terrace from one of your other poems. It's symbolic of sturdiness and comfort I think.
One of your more chearful poems to boot, makes me happy to see you that way.

Actually, the terrace is specifically memories of Westley and I, in fact everything about the terrace. I made it a terrace because there's beauty in a terrace and comfort so I guess you could say that it's symbolic of comfort and sturdiness, a little.
