Paper
paper
everywhere
and not a thing to write.

Inventorous

Who knew paper could be so temporary
or so permanent, foldable in origami shapes
or biblically printable
or funny money?  More to the point
what fool first thought of mashing stuff
in water, pressing out the mess
then drying it? She must have made
mud pies a lot.

Paper was the skin of the gods
where we could write
our letters, confessions, and denials
with a half-life of centuries.

Now we write on screen light.
The words disappear in an eye-blink
transient as our reflection
in the mirror of deflection.

Writing this took an hour
on electronic keyboard.
Any thought on any day,
sent off to the universe,
means less than any papers
I've saved, words you couldn't say,
that still cut like a sharp sword
into the bark of my soul.

A Finite Muse

I've been putting
little bits of you
on paper, must be
nearly ten years now.

There's little left
to pick at, and so much
empty space.

Pass the parcel

I have learnt in the past
that when the music stops,
make sure I am holding
on tightly to the present.

If your undies fer you've been smoking through em, don't peg em out

I write on paper,
I eat meat.
God bless the cows, the chicken,
God bless the trees,
and God bless me.
