I'm making my own tarot deck because I like numbers and symbols and not for any divination purposes. Original tarot seems outdated, what are your thoughts on my structuring? I've regrouped it into 5 sets of four separating the fool and the world as beginning and end. The police is the hierophant, the high priestess the teacher, the magician student, tower is the comet, the chariot the priest. Maybe I can replace some other symbols.

Page=baby (infant)
I'm playing around with the words, what do you think, what changes would you make?

I made what I call my cartoon deck.
There are hundreds of arrangements and designs.
The reason divination works with a particular order of the cards is the same reason poetry works.
You don't like divination?

I understand why the fool is zero, but I don't see the value in the 1-21. I'm thinking Greek letters instead, leaving out the alpha and Omega, so there's no beginning and end
I would like to see the cartoon deck, I appreciate systems for meditation which lead to self revelations which a deck if cards can help with, but future events nah

It aligns with hebrew in the most popular current systems. And the Tree of Life. So FOOL is Aleph, WORLD is Tauv. And you're right. Those are the paths. Kether leads back to Malkuth.

I would gently disagree with the idea of modernizing the Tarot. Better to try to understand the universals of human nature and society that evolved the traditional pack (and its divinatory meanings). If you want modern, sure, go cartoon.
The most significant change in your revised pack is very subtle: substituting "the lover" for The Lovers. Apparently modern "love" is divorced from caring or devotion, other than to self. Which is quite an astute observation, if intended.

What is the traditional deck? If you read french, the traditional deck is the one Eliphas Levi arranged as recent as a little more than a hundred years ago. If you speak english, the most common arrangement is the Golden Dawn one, or the one Aleister Crowley made up.
The arrangement of the deck is the arrangement of the universe. It's arranged by Mages and Bards. Feel free to do that.

The deck was a game based on current (at the time) beliefs. Languages have changed and evolved and people call the hierophant the pope, I'm Catholic but can't say I follow the Catholic church even though I'm supposed to, I'm definitely not any denomination, have I created my own Christianity? I don't think adapting tarot is even bad for divination since they say you have to feel the deck.

The Empress corresponds with the planet Venus. So your wife is right. Is she single?

I like the tree of life, and the cards being bridges, it almost seems arbitrary where and how they're aligned though. I'm sure essays could be written explaining and arguing their positions. I counted in the original 11 people, 6 abstracts, 4 celestial bodies and a tower. I saw some duality and thought I could reorganize it. If the chaotic nature of the original is meaningful I took the numbers out of mine, I don't think I'll use letters either

There is nothing arbitrary about any of the arrangements. You can use more than one. You can divine things. If you open yourself to it. It's very hard to uncloud your mind. Well, it's actually easy after decades of it being hard. And going through all that difficulty adds to the simplicity of it.
Look into the correspondences, you'll find they are endless and universal and shockingly extremely personal.
The LOVERS corresponds to the sign Gemini and the hebrew letter Zain, which is a sword. Think about that.

I bought my first Tarot deck about a month ago. Not sure about the divinatory nature of the cards, but what little time I've spent "reading" the cards, I'd say they are frighteningly accurate about the present, if not the future. I put them away after a week or so; but then I'm a coward. I'm easily led by the nose by mysteries.
As to modernizing, I think cards for things like The Printed Word, The Party (e.g. political party), The Dictator (instead of the Emperor), The Actor, The Criminal, The Business Man (The Executive?), The Machine (or The Mechanic)(The Technician), The Physician, The Virus, The Revolution (instead of Wheel of Fortune) and I'll stop there.
If you can find a copy, I highly recommend thumbing through the Taschen Books publication, just called The Tarot, published in 2020.

I do a reading every New Year's Day, record the results, and see how they panned out the following New Year's. Accuracy is over 51%, with the proviso that only events which seem to match come to mind when recollecting. My significator: Knight of Swords.

Mind is a symbol-system. The Nervous System is a sigil.
The more the symbol-system expands, the more sigils are lighting up in that direction.
The brain, as far as we can perceive such an object, is related to other brains.
The closer your brain shape and wrinkles are to another, the closer a sense of reality is.

The reality a "schizophrenic" sees is no more or less real than what anybody else sees.
You perceive the world that your perceptional apparatuses "see".
Beings with other sense configurations, languages and patterns, are existing in another reality.
