You are to deprive yourself of happiness and pleasure/and save up to go to heaven./Those who have all the happiness and get to have pleasure go to hell./The ones who have all the happiness and pleasure are the most strict Christians, and the most enforceful of Christian strictures./. . . I have an uncle named Aerios Rollins. We called his son Kevin, though he was a Junior. He was always under-game in highschool, with us. Though he was the first to get married after school, to some girl that didn't go to school around here.

Since below the line is not a signature, it seems to be part of the work. Is Aerios Jr. Christ, or one of the damned? If "under-game" doesn't mean something special, he would seem to be on his way to Heaven. OK. Working back from there...
And working forward from the title, the gripe seems to be that Christians are cheerless, domineering, overcompensating hypocrites who don't really have much idea of what their Heaven will be like (as distinct from Machiavelli's very definite preference, "Heaven for the climate, but Hell for the company.")
At a perhaps deeper level, this is quite the valid gripe: Christians have great difficulty describing Heaven - a "house of many mansions" sounds like a tesseract or something, and the business of glassy seas (very large cauldrons) and beasts full of eyes don't help. Where everyone has a golden crown to cast down, and the music of the spheres... well, that went out with crystal shells and geocentrism.
Yet for all this manifest illogic and obscurantism, Christians who practice the tolerant side of the faith (and "keep the body down" *except* under sanctioned circumstances) are quite the nicest people among whom to live, if you can overcome your envy of them.
So Kevin went away with his bride. Well. Hope he likes the climate.

I enjoyed the use of using words more than once, placing emphasis that kept good flow and direction... cryptic but clear. Nice!

I intend to post more critiques, and try to post more better poems now that I have a new library card at a new library. I'm going to miss not having appropriate access to things. It somehow made life more enriching. But now I do, and can try to post more critiques and poems soon.

I'd delete the rest and re-grow the poem from:
says Jesus during the fact. After the fact he goes quiet. The Silence of the Sirens '' '' . the Jesus Christ Period.
Spooky enough for the whole heard!

This poem is from what I'm putting together to publish in two sections called The Wonderful World of Boredom / Drunken Messages. And works fully and perfectly in context. You have to know the context like you have to know the code. And the code is having, or haven, read the book as a whole. I assume when the book exists the code will miraculously, idealistically exist. Like history. And until then, this is posts on a criticism forum. And I welcome this and that like I welcome time.

"like I welcome time"
There's a poem that can go in many directions at once.

I just wrote a beautiful prose poem to Vivien Leigh in the about dreams section. I encourage you to read that before you comment further. And have you ever wondered about the kid at the hospital in An American Werewolf in London who got to slap Jenny Agutter's ass while she was wearing that nurse uniform? Why isn't he posting on this forum? Oh what poems I would have written . . .
I've known lots of girls, but none of them were Jenny Agutter or Vivien Leigh; and there's where my creativity comes from. Always trying to reach a new peak that I can never touch.
And in Christianity, who is God, God or Jesus? I've heard both versions. What do you all think?

I thought that was Veronica Cartwright, , I'm confused,
Meh, for me all gods are based on our desire to tap into the energy of the universe. Some methods work better than others for different people and a lot of people are so focused on all the human rules they miss the ride altogether. More damage than good on the religion front, to me.

There was only one Christian and he died on the cross. Some asshole wrote about that. Jesus followed God yet acted on virtue not rules. Some asshole wrote a poem about that.

Happiness and pleasure are not the same, unlike heaven and hell. We venerate Father Jacob as much as we venerate Saint Cecilia, and he fucked many women. We also venerate Father Abraham, his grandfather, for what he did on Moriah: we value madness over power. Jesus would kiss the beard of Karl Marx, rather than my black pittance. There is only one fact, that we are all sinners; the rest are mysteries.

Hi, rowens. I had a hard time critiquing or commenting initially because of my faith. Not because I was offended, but because I felt awkward on how to critique, but then you asked the question and made it easier for me. I hope what I write helps you to understand, perhaps as a research help for your poem or to bless you in some way:
If a person believes in the Scriptures literally, as I do, then one believes in the Trinity, that is, God is three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Each are equal. I suppose we might use a triangle to describe it. Imagine a triangle, and in the very center it is labeled GOD. Then on the outside of each of the three sides we see it labeled FATHER, SON, HOLY SPIRIT. Those who believe the Scriptures literally, believe that all three were involved in the Creation of all things. We don't believe in scientific theories such as "the big bang", but we believe God used WORDS and SPOKE everything into existence because He is able and always does things in perfect order.
Bible believing Christians believe the story of Eden described in the Book of Genesis. We believe God walked in perfect fellowship with man because there was no sin. Then when man fell by eating the fruit from the tree God told them not to eat, there was a separation of God from man and man was cast out of God's presence, forced out of Eden. After that, the human race began and mankind was then born into sin. We believe all of mankind are sinners, because sin was passed down from Adam. We aren't sinners because we sin, we are sinners because we are born sinners.
That's where the Jesus part comes in. God sent His Son. He left the wonders of heaven to come to the earth born a babe in a manager, born from the flesh of a virgin. That's why many cultures celebrate Christmas. Jesus came for a reason. He came to walk in the flesh so He could understand what we go through. He came to seek and to save that which was lost. You see, God required a blood sacrifice for sin. Back in the day, folks would offer up the blood of animals for forgiveness of sin. It was a pitiful thing, to have to offer an innocent creature for going against God. After time, folks neglected what God required, because yes, we are sinners who more often than not, turn our backs to the things of God.
The Scripture says in John 3:16 (perhaps the most famous verse in the New Testament) "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life". The Scripture goes on to tell us God sent His Son to be The Lamb of God. That's why He went to the cross, innocent, to take our sins upon Himself because He is the gentle and loving Jesus who gave His life so that we might have reconciliation with God. He never hurt anybody. He suffered terrible beatings with a cat-o'-nine tails and they mocked Him and made Him wear a crown of thorns, jamming it down upon His head, upon the head of the King of Glory. They stripped Him and nailed Him to a cross. He was forsaken by many of those He loved. He shed His precious blood to wash away our sins. He even cried out for God the Father to forgive them for all that was done to Him, because He is forever our beautiful intercessor who will plead our case. He gave His precious life. The only God to ever give His life for man. Then He rose from the grave to gain victory over death, proving He was God, the only One who can conquer death and to show us that one day we might have the resurrection of life through Him.
When we trust Him and believe in our hearts that He paid our sin debt fully on the cross, He begins to prepare a place for us in heaven. A beautiful mansion on streets of purest gold where the walls are made of jasper and there's a tree that bears the manner of every kind of fruit. The gates are made of pearl, big giant doors made of strong, solid, luminescent, pearl. There's even a crystal clear river, pure and clean, that can never be polluted. Instantly we are given new, glorified, pain free bodies to enjoy it all, for eternity. There's no sickness, sadness, war, or death there. We will never have to say goodbye to anyone ever again, because it is a perfect place of God where no sin can go. Jesus did it all, He made a way so we could have perfect fellowship with God again.
We believe that the flesh we live in will sin until the end of our life. It is a constant battle, I lose a lot. I look at my flesh as being only an earth suit, my soul dwells in there, in my earth suit. Because I have trusted in Jesus alone for salvation, one of two things will eventually happen. Jesus will come again to receive His Church (those who believe fully in Him) and I will be taken to heaven with my crowd, or this old earth suit will wear out and die and my soul will go on to heaven, to be with the Lord.
We believe anyone can be saved, even the hardest criminal. There were two thieves that hung on crosses next to Jesus. One of them believed, the other did not. The other cursed Jesus and His free gift of salvation. We believe the world is given a choice about Jesus. The Holy Spirit speaks to hearts, to receive or reject. If we receive Him and get saved, the Holy Spirit puts in our hearts to tell others about Him, so that they might be saved, too. It's about love, really. How much we love others, to want to tell them. It's easy to be saved. Just pray and ask God to forgive you for your sins and ask Jesus to come into your heart and be your Savior. He will. He loves us more than any other. There is none like Him. Perfect, good, kind, and He never forsakes us. I could tell you story after story about how He never forsook me and how He cares for me.
~I hope this helps you understand more about what Bible believing Christians believe. I say "Bible believing Christians" not to be boastful, but because the words Christian/Christianity can mean many things and Bible believers stand apart from most others who call themselves Christians, not because we think we are better, but because we believe fully in the Scripture. We believe it is a wonderful miraculous writing, cleverly penned by God through the hands of Holy men He chose to write down His Word. We believe it supersedes any teaching of man or any other books. We believe the Bible because the Holy Spirit speaks to us through it, so we call it God's Word. Many times I fail, I stumble, I fall, but then I ask God to forgive me and help me, and He does. Often He shows me something in His Word that helps me, that encourages me to get through another day. I don't know everything about the Bible, I don't believe anybody but God does, it is a big book and it is as though it were alive, yes, it is a living book and speaks to my heart in many ways, each time differently.
I hope your day is filled with love and peace and many beautiful things.

I tend to stay away from Christianity, and back to Jesus. Not the Church of Christ without Christ, but Jesus without Christ. And not in some koranic bastardized sense either.

Fun note: the Big Bang theory was proposed by a Catholic priest, Georges Lemaitre, and one of the chief champions of the theory of evolution was Theodosius Dobzhansky, a devout member of the Orthodox Church.

No, I'm not.
No man can pluck me from God's hand
once I asked Jesus in my heart.
God said I was graven in His hand.
I like to believe good stuff.
But your comment made me smile.
I thought of orange extension cords
and heavy garden hoses all dirty and tangled.
I love you shemthepenman.
I hope your day is lovely today.
The sky is wonderfully blue here
and there's these bright white billows
drifting, making room for new ones.

Fun note: the Big Bang theory was proposed by a Catholic priest, Georges Lemaitre, and one of the chief champions of the theory of evolution was Theodosius Dobzhansky, a devout member of the Orthodox Church.
Wow! I didn't know that! That is a freaky fun fact!
there's always a better reason to love

Pope Francis has repeatedly stated that the position of the Catholic Church is that the existence of God is not contradictory to the Big Bang, evolution OR climate change. I know, you born again types think the Pope is the devil incarnate and consider Catholics to be terrible idolators who even have the audacity to have a different Biblical canon (you know, one not censored by the Reformation -- which is another word for pogrom against Catholics), but there are around 1.2 billion of them in the world getting on pretty well with atheists. Many of them are scientists. In fact, around 70% of the world's scientists identify as religious -- but that doesn't stop them from understanding that Genesis is an allegory intended to explain difficult scientific concepts to primitive people thousands of years ago (probably by aliens ).
As for your heaven, nibbed: "A beautiful mansion on streets of purest gold where the walls are made of jasper and there's a tree that bears the manner of every kind of fruit. The gates are made of pearl, big giant doors made of strong, solid, luminescent, pearl." That sounds like the sterile, cold and vulgar imaginings of a capitalist demagogue -- certainly not my idea of heaven. But then, my life isn't defined by the pursuit of material goods to the exclusion of all else -- maybe that's why the Protestants really hate Catholics.
Or is it because Pope Francis is Hispanic, and therefore obviously a criminal and a rapist?

Rowens: your gripe, as stated in your opening post, is not truly with Christianity but with Puritanism.
If you were allowed to have a passport, you'd know that the rest of the world is not like that at all.

It's not my gripe, but the gripe. Not THE gripe, but a gripe, someone's gripe. And the poem isn't about Christianity, and it's barely a poem. At least no more a poem than about Christianity.
I don't take Christianity seriously, but I take Jesus seriously. And God.
The person, if it is a person, in the poem, or whatever it is, takes it seriously enough to have a gripe with it.
I had a dream last night that a bus was filling with people who were dreaming of Heaven, who were in Heaven, so they could go back to Earth and wake up. As the gate opened and the bus rode out, God's young daughter and her little dog ran toward the gate. When God noticed he ran after her calling for her to stop and come back, but she and the dog had already got out. God stood and shook his head because he knew that when the dog left Heaven it would become a human boy. Then I woke up.
