At five to midnight, eerie shadows drift
and from the crypt a groaning sound emerges
as on the ground, a headstone starts to lift 
and from the grave, a rotting body surges

Then all are free -- you'd hear them moaning dirges
if you could bear to stand within their range
and as you watched, you'd find the dead have urges
that living folk might find a little strange

You'd see Colette and Morrison exchange
an odd caress at pelvis, breast and lip
then disengage their bodies, rearrange
their skin (and maybe Jim would leave a tip)

There's Balzac with a bit of Moliere's hip
and Chopin goes for Gay-Lussac, whose gas
is still quite strong -- to sniff it is a trip --
Brillat-Savarin moans and calls them crass

Piaf is in the corner, giving sass
and something more to Proust; Hedayat chuckles,
Petrucciani's bone's in Bizet's ass
and Bizet's into Piaf to the knuckles

In Pere Lachaise, the stones are rife with head
and all the stiffs are very far from dead.

I wanted to include Oscar but his bones aren't really there -- he's kind of a blob of calcified lye, and that would be disturbing. I mean, more disturbing... well, maybe not...
