Dream jobs.

I'm bored and I was thinking about carreers and I wanted to know what other people want to be?

Even if you have a job, what is your dream job, or the job you are hoping for?

I want to be a ballerina at ABT but that wil never happen! Lol. I've narrowed it down to: Writer, comedian, and owner of a dance studio. But then I'd have to minor in buisness and I do not want to do that!

Anyways, what are your dream jobs?

If you're good at it, being a pilot would be great.

Literary critic. I would say poet or novelist, but even if you're successful at those, that often only comes after years of hardship. So I'd like to be a critic first, and then become known for my poems/stories.

It's a zero chance anyone can make any money off poetry. I miss the good old days where poets were apreciated, the good old days which of course,I wasn't alive but I miss them! You could definatley try to publish a novel, it's a better shot then poetry. Just make sure you put hot girls and vampires in it, then it'll be a hit!

Just kidding.

sometimes having a dream job is more about doing what you love than how much you earn.

i like the idea of philanthropist.

my dream job would be a test driver (though i know my driving skills aren't good enough)
that guy i Australia who just has to write a blog about his adventures (and he gets to do a lot of good stuff) probably has one of the best jobs in the world.

Yeah poetry, sadly, is a a dead end these days. Though it's never been a stable career. Reminds me of a passage from an ancient Greek play, where one character asks another "are you a poet?" and he points to his rags and replies "yes, can't you tell?"
And to be a financially successful novelist, you have to dumb yourself down to the level of Twilight readers. Hot girls and vampires strangely do sell!Smile

That's true, did you know the "Horror" section on barnes and nobles is full of vampire romance novels? Why? Ugh! It annoys me. And my mother, she hates that too. You wither have to write, A. A crappy book about hot girl vampires who meet sensitive boys, are B. A book that's just so incredibly good and inspiring people must read it, Or C. A disturbing book that people find shocking so they read it for that reason. Writing is more of something about passion, You don't make much money off of it but it's still amazing. Like if I become a ballerina then I wouldn't get much money at all, it's just because I love ballet.

Not entirely true with the whole "Poetry is a poor man's profession" bit. True of the MAJORITY, sure. True of Billy Collins and Franz Wright? Doubt it.

Granted, these are adept poets who, with a combination of skill and luck, made it into the big time. Most of us will not be so fortunate Tongue.

Speaking of Franz Wright, has anyone ever read his stuff? Kind of whiney, don't you think?
Oh, and to the mod who threw on that extra line to my "fantasy", I forgot to finish my story.
I would then open up my own factory that produces them. There. I'm a factory owner.

I think "astronaut" is still the ultimate dream job Smile

It's fallen a bit out of the limelight nowadays, but just imagining being one of the first and few people to venture out into parts of space is terribly exciting.
PS. If you can, try your hand at giving some of the others a bit of feedback. If you already have, thanks, can you do some more?
