Hi everybody from Seattle, WA.
I just started participating in open mic poetry and I want a forum to post my stuff to from time to time while gaining ideas. I hope to graduate to poetry slams in the future. See you around! St. Dan

Hi marc -- "crit" doesn't need to be about structure, it can be about anything. How it sounds, how it makes you feel, just the general vibe of the poem. You'd be surprised how much help just one simple comment can be. Welcome!

hello everyone
so I'm the newbie here. =] I've been writing poetry since before I can remember. I can still recite a lot of the poems I wrote as a child. guess they stick with me the most. I've never shared much of my poetry... it's intensely personal, of course, and I've always had that anxiety (I'm sure many of you know it... that "what if they hate it, what if they see all the dark in me, what if they get scared, what if what if what if..." feeling) stopping me. But I do really feel it's the time in my life to take my poetry to the next level... so what better way than the personal impersonality of a forum? =] Please do read what I post, please do comment. as far as how I write, I don't like rhymes, I don't like constricting rhythm, and I find it hard to write about happy subjects (not to say I don't have happiness in my life... it just doesn't push me to write about it). I use capitals and punctuation as I see fit for each poem. I do love imagery, and I love poems that are abstract enough that for me they spell it all out, but (hopefully) for you they say something totally different. I'll do my best to leave constructive feedback for others as well, I've browsed a bit and liked what I saw, it'll be nice to read the poetry here. also, hope it's not a faux pas, but I'm going to skip the "novice" area and jump straight into mild critique. It'll be nice to get to know you all. =]

Hi goldyfish,
It isn't a faux pas at all. Where you post is often more dictated by the level of critiques you're comfortable leaving. It's good to have you here. Welcome! Todd
