When Frogs Collide
#1
When Tad the Pole was very small
a dot was all, and all were dots.
His jelly jiggled in the night
and out he popped.

Now Tad the Pole was not the first,
many dots meant many births.
And so there were in one small pond
so many frogs.

At first they fliggled with their tails
to no effect; the jelly held.
Then fliggling became the thing
and all were free.

In all the world, at least their world,
they swam with pride amongst their kin.
"We shall be Frogs one day" they cried;
but many died.

It's just as well, I hear you say,
for frogs and toads would multiply
until, imagine, millions...
when frogs collide.

Hi tictak: was noticing the form, 3 lines of tetrameter, the 4ths always 2 stressors; is this a particularly named form, and frogs? a metaphor for something? Best Loretta

Hi Luretta,
Yep, it's a form I use only for writing about toads but it seems to work quite well with frogs. It is called Frog Spawntongueincheek
Metaphorically this poem is about frogs.HystericalHysterical:
