the immigration laws again

PHOENIX | Opponents of Arizona’s new immigration law are thrilled. Advocates are dismayed. And the stage has been set for more legal battles.

A federal judge on Wednesday blocked the most controversial elements of the law, including sections that required police officers to check a person’s immigration status while enforcing other laws.

i think i remember saying this would happen in another thread.
i'm glad it did though i'm sure it won't be the end of it.

i agree. and it seems so does the law (so far)

i think i mentioned in the last thread we had about immigration that
all they had to do was make it illegal to hire immigrant day workers and heavily fine anyone who uses them. one of the provisions they allowed was to make illegal to higher immigrant day workers. that in itself is causing some to leave the state and go back to mexico.

Well you can have sons of immigrants that look latino but are totally legal US citizens. Do they need to carry papers around with them?

The latino residents of Arizona aren't necessarily the sons of immigrants.

When California, New Mexico, Arizona and Texas became US territories at the end of the Mexican-American War, there were approximately 80,000 latino residents, comprising about 20% of the population. The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo (1848) guaranteed the property rights of formerly Mexican citizens in the transferred territories. These original residents became US citizens through annexation.

i like the way you'll do a bit of research altezon.

good point. if anything some were there before the usa citizen
who at the time of hand over was probably of english or Irish stock.
they already have immigration laws. they could already take firms to court who hire day workers.

this is definitely political. if they don't look out the whole of america will turn round and bite their asses.
