The Musician's Ballad

They say I’m strumming my life away.
Like dust in the wind,
I drift through the ether.
Teachers and professors tell me
With physics and math and history
I’m supposed to solve the mystery,
But those notes don’t resonate with me.

The day the music died,
I picked up those six strings,
Shook them back to life.
In one harmonious flurry,
The secret is revealed,
And the mystery is solved.
Mine is not to reason why.
Now ‘scuse me while I kiss the sky

Points for allusions to other songs, but some of the reference seem more ad hoc than an integrated part of the story. plus the whole seems to sit a bit stiff in the saddle for a ballad.

How long after picking up the brush, the first masterpiece?

The goal is not to obfuscate that which is clear, but make clear that which isn't.

I appreciate the input. I've always had a horrible knack for picking titles so I especially sympathize with that point.
