Making a post ungoogleable

I will not post one of my poems unless I know that the thread will be ungoogleable. Can this be achieved? If so how?

you could post in members only.

The members only forum says it's shielded from google.

That would, I think, protect any quotes within any thread there, but of course if you post anything online someone could cut and paste it elsewhere, nature of the beast.

Well I googled a few different lines in quotes from some things I've posted here, and also my user name (apparently I'm a racing horse) and was hard pressed to find anything related to this site. Guess Uncle Google doesn't place us high on priority, so whatever. ;p Though of course if I was thinking about publishing in the near-ish future it'd be a different story.

DIdnt add pigpen or google the thread titles, because that seemed too specific for a random google search. ;D But anyway like I said I'm not worried about it.

We can put the spotlight forum in Member's Only, I suppose -- but the idea was to show people off to the world, and we never spotlight something that's hidden or in a members-only area without seeking permission first.

I have never heard of a *reputable* publication knocking something back because it was on an internet workshop. It's no different to workshopping in your local cafe -- it is NOT publication.

I know one poet who claims that one of his poems was denied because it was on a blog. Do you really think they take time to evaluate if it is a blog, a workshop or a community? Do you have examples of poems workshopped here that were sent around and then accepted by some reputable mag or publisher?

It is true, some publications will not accept a submission that has been posted anywhere on the internet, including workshops, Facebook and.Twitter. if this is an important concern for you don't post poetry anywhere on the internet, including here. If you still want.to participate in the site, you should note that posting poetry here is actually only a small component of participation here.

Well, I am still at a level where it is smarter to learn and develop at a place like this than to try to achieve quality on my own, but being published is a distant dream that I enjoy to maintain, and it would feel sad to abandon ship if I get good enough.

Surprisingly, even regularly published authors don't write.everything to be published. If your primary concern posting poems here is that it may some day make them ineligible to be published at one or two of the very few publications that dont accept poems posted to workshops you could still post the ones you don't intend to publish and.of course still participate through commenting and discussion.
