Hickory dickory dock

Hickory, dickory, dock
The mouse ran up the clock.
The clock struck one,
The mouse ran down,
Hickory, dickory, dock

Grandfather watches the children play,
As he does every day.
He tries to remind them,
That time's slipping away,
But they rarely seem to listen.

As the children grow older,
Their days start to get colder,
And they seem to stop liking games.
Grandfather pleads them to play s’more,
But they give him the cold shoulder.

Hickory, dickory, dock
He looks at the children in shock.
The clock strikes eight,
It's getting late,
Hickory, dickory, dock.

Those children have grown,
To have lives of their own,
And they ignore His wishful reminders.
Little did they know Grandfather would be there,
Every strike becoming less kinder.

These children now spend their lives,
Going to work,
And getting by.
If only they'd stop to take a moment,
To try to enjoy the ride.

Hickory, dickory, dock,
The mouse ran up the clock.
The clock strikes one,
Their time is done,
Hickory, dickory, dock.

Grandfather watches the children play, this is a good deviation from the norm
As he does every day.
He tries to remind them,
That time's slipping away, no need for [that]
But they rarely seem to listen.

As the children grow older, no need for [the]
Their days start to get colder, no need for [their]
And they seem to stop liking games. no need for [and]
Grandfather pleads them to play s’more,
But they give him the cold shoulder.
here's a bit of an example;
As children grow older,
days start to get colder,
they seem to stop liking games.
Granddad joins in, to give them a spin
but the kids just spin him the cold shoulder
