< candy in late october >

                they answer doors
                the dead behind these doors
                and offer candy
                candy for our sacks
                our bulging bags
the dead will never come to us
and so we go to them
                they stand
                this open door and that
these fields of houses with their candy
late october fields of candy filled
                with frozen dead
                these fields of mailbox epitaphs
that name the few who can be named
                they answer doors
                the dead behind these doors
                and offer us their candy

                        - - -
a brightly colored fungus that grows in bark inclusions

"I love the dead" Alice Cooper
How long after picking up the brush, the first masterpiece?

The goal is not to obfuscate that which is clear, but make clear that which isn't.
