Different Kinds of Heroes
#1
If I were being robbed
And Robin Hood appeared
Bow drawn, and
Ran the creep away,
I'd be one happy maiden in distress.

If somebody pushed me down,
(In elementary school),
And Jesus came on by,
And helped me up,
And patted me on the head,
And then patted the mean boy's shoulder
As He passed him by....
I'd be confused.

But what if I found out, that
38 years later,
This boy, now man, was
Walking by a burning house
With screaming mother in the doorway
Dropped his groceries and ran inside
To grab her sleeping child!......

Then I'd understand,
That we are all slowly
Metamorphosing.

Robin Hood's my kind of hero.
But Jesus has the superpower
Of understanding Time.

So He's my Superhero.
And I do love them both.

I think Jesus only understood destiny a little bit. As much as he needed to; and the redemption is all right. Robin Hood might've been redeemed for all I know, in the crime fighting way. Or maybe it was your point that he has.

No, this was not a serious discussion of what Jesus was or represented, nor a serious discussion of Robin Hood. It was meant as a light, casual reference to these as archetypes, and the only seriousness was meant to be a philosophical look at the concept of help now, in which good guys and bad guys are clear.....and help from someone who can conceive of time and 'change'. Thank you for taking time to discuss it.

You can read my comments along those same levels then. That's the spirit I see in your poem. And I like to discuss these things sometimes.
