I have found (quite accidentally) that you can copy and paste things typed in open office (a free program much like word) and for some reason it keeps your format.

Now that's good to know -- thanks bena!
(Bloody hell you're handy to have around)
It could be worse

Did you save the file in .odt format? Because when I open mine I've saved that way (having pasted from word into open office) they have this odd grey space for places that have spaces and I just copied and pasted right into here. Maybe it doesn't work if you just type them into openoffice, of that I'm not really sure. But if you paste from word into openoffice, then copy paste from there back here it does. God, that hurt my head... ORRR dammit I think I've solved it. If you have your poem all nice and formatted the way you want it in word, just right click it and chose "open with" and chose openoffice. Then C n P here. Tada. That seems simpler.

Have you tried to post something using the open office with different formatting?

html is a bitch and I haven't had to work with it in 15 years or so...seems like more forum boards (even mine) are going back to it due to the ability of spammers to exploit the "better" or "more detailed" forum formats. Just really sucks when you want to use white space alot. Did you try something saved in word, opened in openoffice, while this site was opened in firefox?

yeah to all the above, im checking the source code to see if it was just that it was done in html.

well, I'm headed back to bed for a bit, but I'll be back. I did not tamper with your nether regions, no matter what it says in arse. I'm completely innocent.
