The sexes are different. [So are races for that matter but that's a different issue.]
They're not of greater or lesser value, but they are different and pretending that they're not arguably causes more harm than good.
Men are on average physically stronger in absolute terms than women. The difference is measurable. To set lower entry requirements for police officers who are female is ridiculous. Sure 5 ft 6 in might be tall for a woman but its still shorter than most of the criminals she would be facing. It's much harder to intimidate someone when you're looking up at them than down. And it's much harder to take down someone who is bigger heavier and stronger than you are. Same for jobs such as firefighters, and soldiers.
Women on the other hand, are engineered by evolution to take care of babies--which means their brains are better at deciphering body language so they quite probably make better detectives (as opposed to beat cops) than men.
I'm not saying that no woman should ever be allowed to fight a fire or that no man should ever be able to become a detective. But I do think that insisting that women in general can do all jobs as well as men is ridiculous, blatantly untrue and detracts from the fact that they can actually do some jobs better than men.
The sexes are equivalent in value but they're not equal.
