A Gentleman Caller.

A hilariously cynical homage to William Carlos Williams, which may, unless I'm giving it too much credit, even be teasing out the depths in his original work. Either way, the central purpose of this poem, it seems, is to be funny and wry, and on that level it's a roaring success. The final thank you is especially good.
"We believe that we invent symbols. The truth is that they invent us; we are their creatures, shaped by their hard, defining edges." - Gene Wolfe
