Woke up Tomorrow (blank verse)


I woke up yesterday still half-asleep,
believing it the morn of Saturday.
Then, as I started to unbed myself,
recalled last evening’s piquant chili supper
which, being Mexican, hotly pursued
its revolution in my burning guts.
O, what a thing, this nearly having lost
an entire Friday, even one without
a single thing to do except digest.

Fun poem, great title. Only place I tripped was
an enTIRE FRIday
