Question sent to me "About poetry"? by a non-registered type. I slotted my 2, maybe someone wants to riff off the query also.

----I'm curious; why is writing in a unique style the goal of poetry?
---In this country, it seems to be the goal of almost everything, maybe, "save" money.

It is unfortunate when one lacks the ability to discern the difference between a "unique style" and that which is (for lack of a better word authentic). A person can lift (as in steal/derive) the "style" of another to the applause of millions, while another can sing with a genuine voice to only closed minds.
Does following one statement by an incongruous non-sequitur make one think he/she is somehow being deep? I suppose such thinking would follow from such a writer.
Sorry, dilettantes always piss me off.

How long after picking up the brush, the first masterpiece?
The goal is not to obfuscate that which is clear, but make clear that which isn't.
