Defy your love? E'en if I could,
What good's a tree without its wood?
What good's a heart without a beat,
Or suckling lips without a teat?
How is it that our hearts yet hang
throughout the years still ripening,
the thickened flesh a sweet delight,
'tween stone and skin a full grown bite.
What good's a tree without its wood?
What good's a heart without a beat,
Or suckling lips without a teat?
How is it that our hearts yet hang
throughout the years still ripening,
the thickened flesh a sweet delight,
'tween stone and skin a full grown bite.
