Look at us –
sat here like two shots of tequila; (sitting or 'we' before sat. sat interrupts the flow of the line)
waiting to be understood,
aching to be known
beyond our salt and citrus suits,
hoping night falls gently
on shoulders seared by sun.

I like the short poems you write. They are concise and the metaphor always works well for me.
