the organism is a parasite,
unwelcome guest with no respite;
a blood-red rose with piercing thorn,
toxins discharge with callous scorn.
No thorn, a dagger: callous scorn
that pierces fragile armor worn
to guard the ego (soft but stout-
now belittled) oozing doubt.
