I think it would be better it was more concise. with a little more clarity and detail. Abstractiond are a poets worst enemy.

Something like this:

Wise words fall on deaf ears-
Time is a poor listener.

"deaf ears"

some would say cliches are a poets worst enemy . . .

Some would say "I am my own worst enemy"
