Twice in the last few days I have heard something along the lines of: "You don't know this music/band/art/book/film/song, you are so young/old" I have heard this many times in my life as I have partaken and observed but as I reintegrate into this society after a year of social seclusion I find it interesting. A sentence like this used to worry me - I worried that I would be seen as young, or old depending on what I could present. I worried that I would be seen as cool, or uncool depending on my playlists. I ended up listening to music I never really liked and learning about bands others would listen to just so I could fit into an acceptable mold. As if from one song you can tell someones level of maturity and level of artistic knowledge.
I think about something as simple as a number, our age, and how it can be used to determine which box we fit into, much like judgements made at first glance ..but the truth is, I have met 40 year old men who can't take care of themselves and 15 year old girls who take care of their parents. These judgements sometimes, are inescapable - but there is a universe, each song a star in the never ending sky. Our tastes, our perception.. our minds are as unique as snowflakes and ever-changing. Upon this recognition, I will never see people the same again and I will never judge a person for not listening to something as beautiful as Ludovico Einaudi. I just hope they do.

If there is anyone out there is this beautiful community of people that wonders at all where I went, I am taking a break from the site for a while. I am working through what I am going through, through writing without expectation from an outside source. Not that this site expects, or the world expects, but I expect. And it is difficult for me to write for myself, when I am also writing in a public space. I must separate the two.
Love to you all
