What's with people getting drunk? No, really, I don't get it. If you know you're going to feel like crap the next day, why push your already low threshold for alcohol? It's just a very perplexing question that I have on my mind lately.
Back!
I have a high threshold for alcohol. And I don't like to drink water or chasers or anything. I'm so used to feeling bad that I don't notice hangovers much. I usually wake up the next day with the horrible idea that I've committed some unpardonable act, or said something that I'm going to regret forever. But that usually wears off within an hour. When I was a lot younger, I'd have hangovers that lasted weeks. I felt like my mind was falling in and out of my brain when I moved my head, and I couldn't eat anything but one slice of bread each day. But that was partly based on problems with my nervous system. And my solution to that problem was to drink my nervous system away. Alcohol has been the only thing that's ever worked for my mental difficulties. Most drugs that I have easy access to make me feel worse.
This seems like the most sensible thing to say: Drink a whole lot of water, if you're able, before you go to sleep. Take your booze shit when you wake up; take a few more throughout the day if the event demands it. Drink a lot more water (I don't like coffee, some do). And eat some large meals.---People are different, but this all seems basic enough.

Now, now! for weeks?
Ok. I do drink lots of water of Pindar ( ἄριστον μὲν ὕδωρ ... . undeniable truism. ).
Maybe the hangovers torture you longer, rowen, bc of dehydration.
Ok, if you really so not into drinking water, you could try reefers. That often helped me.

I don't drink to get drunk. That's not to say that I haven't been drunk, but it will never be my sole purpose. I am usually the designated driver anyway, and I'd never drink and drive. I do, however, quite enjoy being in an atmosphere where people are letting go of their inhibitions and just enjoying themselves. None of the people I associate with are aggressive or depressive drunks, they just get happier and slightly more ridiculous. As for hangovers -- if you pace yourself and stay well hydrated, there's no real problem. Generally the next day is a washout because of tiredness though, so we just don't do it if there's something important on -- and that definitely includes work.
But I could be terribly boring. I don't smoke either, and I don't feel any desire to touch illicit drugs. I still manage to enjoy myself. Go figure.
It could be worse

serge, "

people get drunk because most think they can hold their booze, they can't, other get drunk to forget, other are alcoholics though many of these don't seem so drunk. i personally used to like having a good night out and in process drank booze. it loosens up the inhibitions and so you can interact easier, you can get laid, drunk is an effect of booze while some do drink to get drunk for many it a way to let off steam.

Maybe you misread my comment. I don't have long hangovers any more. And pot doesn't calm me down, it speeds up my thoughts. If I started writing more after smoking pot, you'd really be in for obscurities.

Okay, what's with people making such non-descript Post Subjects?
