It should drone on forever like those people on their phones.
I would take a girl out to dinner. She'd lived with some rich guy, and did modeling for photographs. So she thought of herself as a celebrity, and had people calling her from all over the country. Never fifteen minutes passed without calls and messages. She'd sit at the table and carry on conversations with several people in different places all at once. You couldn't sleep at night, because she wouldn't let you cut her phone off, and she slept with it in her hand. It was maddening. I still haven't got over it.
But many people need the phone every moment. And you can't listen to the radio, people will turn it down and make phonecalls. As if phonecalls deserve special treatment. It may have been that way once, but now that people get phonecalls every few minutes, they might as well not even show up, and instead just stay home and talk on the phone.
